Small staff.  Big capabilities.

Years of Experience.

Working together as a team is something all companies claim they do very well.  Truth is, some do, some don't.  At Full Effect Productions, working as a team is a reality. It has to be. With only three of us here, we'd better work well together, or we're in big trouble.

We also rely on an excellent group of vendors we've identified over our many years of experience.  These trusted partners provide any of the pieces of the video production puzzle that we can't do ourselves.   We recognize that there are certain situations when it's better for the client if we hire someone who can add their expertise and talents to the project, making the final result a better one for you!

Nick is your basic military brat. Except for the fact that neither of his parents were actually in the military. But, like many military families, his family moved several times during his youth, living in Omaha, Chicago, and Minneapolis among other places. And although he wasn't living on military bases, he developed a deep interest in History, and all things military. Ask him about the Battle of Tarawa in 1943, and you may just get an entire lesson on the Pacific Theater of World War II. When he's not painting tanks for his war game simulations, Nick works here. He shoots video. He edits video. He talks about World War II. A lot. Anyone who comes into contact with Nick will become much better versed in the history of mankind and all the wars it has produced over the years. Nick provided 50% of the formula that founded Full Effect Productions over 21 years ago, and has played a vital role in its success. Nick is a 1987 graduate of the University of South Dakota, and his previous experience includes working at a local TV station as Commercial Videographer/Producer. Not taking a cue from his parents, Nick has decided to keep his family in one city, and has called Sioux City, Iowa home since 1988. He has a wife of 33 years and an adult son and daughter. In his free time, Nick can be found studiously painting small military ships, tanks and airplanes. He has amassed large numbers of these items that comprise entire military units used for battles at the MAGECON gaming convention. He's a film buff who's recently installed home theater has him positively giddy, and hardly ever seeing daylight.

Remember cassette tapes?  Rod does, so that tells you a little about his age.  His interest in the video industry can be traced back to when he was a young boy. After getting a cassette tape recorder for Christmas one year, he would spend hours making all kinds of weird recordings. It was very basic, with terrible sound quality. But he loved it. He was always trying to see what sounds he could create. Goofy noises. Entire "radio plays". During high school, he did a bit of radio newscast announcing and when it was time for college, he decided on a Broadcasting major. He immersed himself in all things audio, radio, TV and video. After college, he worked as a part-time radio DJ for a number of years, worked at a local TV station as Master Control Operator and later as Audio Operator. Next, a full time job as a Radio Commercial Writer piqued his creative interests, and during that stint he won a National Addy award for a radio commercial he wrote and produced. His next career step came when he was hired as the Writer/Producer for a local advertising agency. One day after a long video shoot with Nick, he decided to leave the comfort of a large organization, join Nick and become a two-person company. Rod is a 1988 graduate of Wayne State College in Wayne, NE. He has lived in Sioux City since 1989 with his wife of 28 years and has two college-age children. When he's not producing videos, you'll find him cheering on the Huskers, brewing beer or adding to his massive Rock N Roll CD collection. Now if only he could find those old cassette recordings....

RON BASS

Videographer

Video Editor

Motion Graphics and FX

When Ron isn't cranking out juicy Van Halen riffs on the electric guitar, he can usually be found at his editing desk working on some cool new motion graphic or visual effect. That fancy stuff you see in our demo reel? That's probably his work. Nick and Rod would like to say they taught him everything he knows, but we all know that's not true. What we do know is that Ron is one of the best video producers, (and maybe THE best) in these parts. He has a long career of shooting and editing some of the best work around. It all started way back in high school, when Ron choreographed fight scenes and stunts with friends and filmed them with an 8mm home movie camera at various locations around Sioux City. He got his first "pro gig" fresh out of high school at KCAU-TV as a camera operator, and has been honing his craft ever since. He must really like it, because over 30 years later he's still at it!  Ron has worked at all 3 local Network affiliate TV stations including a stint in Wichita, Kansas.  He joined Full Effect Productions in 2001 after working for 14 years as an Account Executive and Videographer/Producer at his Dad's advertising agency. Ron attributes his interest in visual communications to his interest in film work by Steven Spielberg, as well as big budget disaster films (Towering Inferno, Poseidon Adventure) from the 1970s. He is particularity fond of Raiders of the Lost Ark. Ron says, "Raiders isn't the best movie I've ever seen, however it is my favorite." Don't ask. He lives in Sioux City with his wife of 37 years and has 4 college/adult age children.
